Maze to the Self

MDF wood, mirror
53” x 15” x 3”
2024

Maze to the Self takes the myth of Narcissus as its motif to explore self-searching and the inner world. The mirror placed in the key hole in the center intends to lead the viewer to search their inner self through their own reflection. The surrounding stairs and black squares symbolize an all-encompassing and endless transcendental and infinite space, metaphorically representing the journey of our lives. Sometimes, in our wanderings, we lose sight of our inner selves. In those moments, the keyhole within the work serves to remind us that each of us is, ultimately, the most certain answer and the key to ourselves.
