Chaewook Lim primarily works with new media, sculpture, and installations, emphasizing the complex emotions embodied in the color black. In his work, black is not just an absence of light but an essential element for exploring emotional and psychological depths. Lim uses black to symbolize internal conflict, concealed emotions, and the psychological darkness we often hide. His work emphasizes the use of dark colors and the transformation of ordinary objects to reveal the intricate layers of human emotions and psyche.

He also occasionally attempts to connect installations and sculptures with edited videos or to carve wood in new ways. This blend of diverse art forms allows Lim to connect various types of art and delve deeper into the exploration of human emotions and existence.

This represents the core of Lim's artistic exploration, challenging conventional views of art and inspiring viewers to adopt fresh perspectives. By turning ordinary objects into art, he seeks to dismantle traditional boundaries and enhance viewer engagement, prompting a deeper exploration of human emotions and existence. Lim's ultimate goal is to redefine the essence of art, emphasizing its ability to convey profound emotional truths and forge a deep connection with the human experience.
